argandi piano trio
blanca arbelaez, violin, greet gils, cello and andrew wise, piano: three finished
musicans meet in 2001 and resolve to share their passionate enthusiasm for the inexhaustible
literature for piano trio -- the argandi piano trio makes its debut in 2002 and is
soon invited to give concerts in the flemish opera's chamber music series. Other
engagements follow in the museum of decorative arts in sint-niklaas, the bijloke
concert hall in gent, the rode pomp chamber music centre in gent, the cultural market
in antwerp, the salons de raedt in gent and in the series classic@eeklo. Our repertoire
extends from haydn to peteris vasks, we recently played the belgian premiere of the
profound and moving episodi e canto perpetuo by this contemporary latvian composer.
In october 2006 the argandi pianotrio was selected for the chamber music seminary
at the orpheus institute in gent. We are especially attracted by the almost inexhaustible
range of repertoire for piano trio with its base around beethoven, brahms, ravel
and the russian masters, but we are also interested in exploring new developments.
What is the future of music for this marvellous combination which has in the past
inspired so many great composers? How can we communicate the spiritual depths of
these works and stimulate our listeners’ curiosity for the new?
