Live recording of La danza de la Moza Donosa, by Alberto Ginastera from the Dolhuys Concert (Haarlem, July 2017)

Studio recording from September 2015 of Mear as Ien for voice & piano by the magnificent tenor Albert Bonnema and pianist Andrew Wise. The text is by Fedde Schurer (1898-1968), a Dutch journalist, poet, politican and activist on behalf of the Frisian language, ardently striving for the intrinsic right enjoyed by inhabitants of Friesland to official recognition of their mother tongue. He lived in Amsterdam for a long period, notably during the war years during which he was involved with the Dutch Resistance. Mear as Ien is about his divided loyalties: on the one hand the lure of the bright lights of the capital, on the other his emotional ties to the coastal region of Friesland, which he compares in his poem to the lost country of Atlantis.

Studio recording made in August 2015 of Chopinata for Piano Solo by Clément Doucet, performed by pianist Andrew Wise. Léon Clément Doucet (1895-1950) was a classically trained Belgian pianist who studied with Liszt pupil Arthur De Greef in Brussels. He travelled to the USA around 1920 and discovered American Jazz. Back in Europe, he became the house pianist at the popular Parisian cabaret Le Boeuf sur le Toit. His compositions clearly show both classical and jazz influences. Chopinata is a ragtime tribute to Chopin.
